1. Wings as Dallas Owns the Night
The 2021 WNBA draft was the WNBA's draft for the 2021 WNBA season. The Wings were the big winners of the night, drafting Charli Collier with the first overall pick. Collier is a 6-foot-5 center from Texas A&M who is considered one of the best prospects in the country. She averaged 20.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game in her senior season, and she was named the SEC Player of the Year. The Wings also traded up to select Aaliyah Boston with the fourth overall pick. Boston is a 6-foot-3 forward from South Carolina who is known for her defense and rebounding. She averaged 12.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in her sophomore season, and she was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
The Wings' other big move of the night was trading away Kayla Thornton to the New York Liberty for Natasha Howard. Howard is a 6-foot-3 forward who is one of the best players in the league. She averaged 16.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game for the Liberty last season, and she was named an All-Star. The Wings are hoping that Howard can help them contend for a championship this season.
